Assistant Director of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries Provides Support for Hurricane Victims

Story by North American Division Communication Staff

Chaplain Washington Johnson II, Commander, Deputy Chaplain of the United States Coast Guard for Reserve Matters, answered the call to duty to support victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Johnson’s work involved facilitation of religious support that ranged from dispatching reserve chaplains to the affected areas to providing pastoral care to service members supporting the United States Coast Guard's National Capital Region Call Center.

Service members have worked around the clock to assist hurricane victims.

"It's a real honor to serve both God and country in this capacity," says Johnson, who also serves as the assistant director of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries at the North American Division and is a member of Allegheny East Conference's Breath of Life church in Ft. Washington, Md. He encourages all to continue to pray for complete recovery and restoration for those affected by the devastation from the hurricanes.
