Last Sabbath, members from several Seventh-day Adventist churches in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV) partnered to raise funds for those impacted by the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The collaboration took place at Allegheny East Conference’s Fourth Street Friendship church in Washington, D.C. The raised funds will be donated to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), a humanitarian agency that is already providing support to survivors

At the charity event, Mike Bohman, a professional saxophonist and member of Potomac Conference’s Rockville (Md.) church, and vocalists Bernadette and Winston Charles, members of Potomac’s Seabrook church in Lanham, Md., performed. Watch a video of the event here.

Event organizers say they hope this event will serve as a catalyst for other churches and social organizations around the country to hold similar fundraisers to help relieve the suffering and pain of the people in Turkey and Syria.
