Statement From the Allegheny East Conference Regarding Emanuel AME Massacre

The Allegheny East Conference shared the following statement this morning:

“These all died in the faith . . . and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (Hebrews 11:13)

In the wake of the horrific slaying that occurred last night at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, the Allegheny East Conference expresses its sympathy to and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ of the Charleston community. We strongly urge our pastors and members to immediately and continually pray for the Emanuel AME Church family.

Seventh-day Adventist churches along with most of the Christian community regularly gather in mid-week services for Bible study and prayer. Historically, we have been blessed in America to do so without concern for bodily harm or physical attack. We encourage our congregations to not grow anxious, but with renewed determination continue to call on the name of the Lord with fasting and prayer.
