Pennsylvania “Equips” Members to Reach Their Communities

By Celeste Ryan Blyden

More than 300 Pennsylvania members and pastors gathered last weekend in Carlisle, Pa., for the second Equipping University. This was the third of six lay training events that the conference is holding over a three-year period. According to President Ray Hartwell, the focus was on small group ministry and prayer in the life of the church and its members. “Our goal is to lead churches into mission, raise up lay pastors, and equip members to take Pennsylvania for Christ,” he says. Milton Adams, from the Florida Conference’s LIFE Institute presented on small groups while Jo Kidder, a professor at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich., talked about prayer.
