May 18, 2021: God Is With Us

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Josh. 1:9, NIV).

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations and wonder if God is paying attention. We might feel so alone that we can’t feel God’s presence; we need His guidance and help. Sometimes friends, spouses and parents don’t completely understand what we are going through, but God does, and He cares. How comforting it is to know that wherever we go, God is there with us.

God told Joshua to be strong and have courage: “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” We don’t have to feel alone, for God is with us. He is working out our problems, oftentimes without us even realizing it. We need to have faith to trust Him and receive what He has for us. If we need strength, peace, love, joy or hope, He has it all. He longs to pour out His favor and blessings on us.

As we read in Psalms 139:1–6, “You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. ... You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me to attain” (NIV).

There is nothing that God doesn’t know and can’t do for us. He walks with us every moment of every day.

Father, thank You for always being there. Amen.
