November 13, 2021: Never Alone

“For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is His name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole earth shall He be called” (Isa. 54:5, KJV).

I have been a widow for many years. Although the burdens of day-to-day life are heavy, I have the assurance that God cares for me.

I discovered one of my favorite passages of Scripture after my husband’s death. During a very lonely time of grief and pain, I reached out to
God for strength to help me get through each day. In my devotions, I discovered this beautiful text of comfort and reassurance.

As the words of the hymn, “Does Jesus Care?” by Frank E. Graeff say:

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye” To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches
Till it nearly breaks,

Is it aught to Him? Does He see? Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief; When the days are weary,
The long night dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

God’s great love for me is demonstrated in Christ’s sacrifice. Extending compassion further and walking with me every day, God comforts me with the presence of His Spirit.

Lord, thank You for protecting me with angels and surrounding me with Your Spirit. With You by my side, I am not alone. Amen.
