Sandra Jones as worked in the Communication Department for more than 20 years

Sandra Jones, Longtime Columbia Union Worker, Retires

Story by V. Michelle Bernard

After working 43 years at the Columbia Union Conference headquarters in Columbia, Md., Sandra Jones retired this week.

Jones, who retired from the Communication Department as the advertising manager and editor of the obituary and classified ad sections of the Visitor magazine, began her work at the Columbia Union as the administrative assistant in the Publishing Department/Home Health Education Service.

Jones has worked in the Communication Department since 2000. During her time there, she has served in various roles, including departmental secretary, copy editor, advertising manager, and subscription list manager—working with conference and church clerks in managing the magazine’s subscription list. A deeply relational person, Jones says she will most miss “wheeling and dealing” with advertisers and writing obituaries.

"Our members and advertisers will miss Sandra's excellent customer service and attention to detail. More than those things, employees of the Columbia Union will miss our dear friend," says Kelly Butler Coe, director of Communication, who has worked closely with Sandra for 23 years.
