I’m Experiencing God at Blue Mountain Academy

Story by Xavier Victoria Gomez (’28)

Before I came to Blue Mountain Academy (BMA), my spiritual life was nonexistent, and I had no true connection to Jesus. That all changed as soon as I arrived on campus.

When I first started there, things felt the same spiritually; I knew who Jesus was and of His sacrifice for me, but I truly had not experienced Him or His amazing love. At the time, I was going through a lot, and not being with my family made it worse. I felt alone, and I didn’t know whom to confide in—until one Sabbath.

A guest speaker came to preach, and I remember him sharing Hebrews 4:14–16: “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (NKJV).

This verse allowed me to see that, even in my struggles, Jesus knows my every weakness, and He resonates with them.

Today, I am growing even closer to Jesus through Bible studies, personal devotions and sermons. All these opportunities are because of BMA. I look back and thank God for placing me in this school because I am receiving such a great education and learning about Jesus’ sacrifice and love in an experiential way.
