Chesapeake Conference Celebrates Record Baptisms

Story by Evan Knott

In 2024, Chesapeake Conference welcomed 647 new members through baptism or profession of faith, marking the highest annual total in the conference’s history. This number represents a 28 percent increase from 2023, bringing the conference’s total membership to more than 18,500.

This record-breaking year underscores the conference’s commitment to evangelism and outreach. In 2024, the conference invested heavily in subsidizing local evangelism efforts, including providing the conference-produced Forecasting Hope Evangelism Kit to every pastor, free of charge. Training was given to members and leaders through programs such as Proclaim, ACTS, and Seeds, which provided essential instruction and coaching for proclamation evangelism and church planting. The conference also focused on prework for major 2025 initiatives, including Reach Baltimore 2025 and Pentecost 2025.

Jerry Lutz, conference president, says, “We rejoice and praise God for all the precious souls who accepted Jesus as their Savior.”
