Investing in Our Children

In every classroom, God is at work—shaping lives in ways that reach far beyond what we can see. During a recent visit to one of our elementary schools, a first-grade student approached me with a big question: “What is your name, and what do you do?”

I explained that I serve as the superintendent of education and briefly described my role. She paused, smiled and said, “I want to be a superintendent too.”

She may not yet understand all that the role involves, but it reminded me of a simple truth: God places us where we are, not only to fulfill a responsibility, but to reflect something greater to the young eyes watching us.

In our schools, these moments happen every day. Students are not only learning to read, write and think—they are discovering purpose, identity and faith. They are watching, listening and imagining what their own future might look like.

The beauty of Seventh-day Adventist education is that it also creates space for students to encounter Christ in a personal way, to grow in their spiritual journey and to develop values that will guide their decisions for a lifetime.

We see the fruit of this work as students make decisions for Jesus and publicly commit their lives to Him. These experiences are nurtured through the collaboration of dedicated teachers, supportive families and pastoral leadership—all working together to guide the next generation.

Adventist education also plays a vital role in sharing the gospel. In the daily rhythm of the classroom, students experience faith in action—through kindness, service, prayer and teachers who inspire their lives.

When we support Adventist education, we are participating in something far greater than a school system—we are investing in lives that will influence others for Christ. Today, it may look like a child’s dream. Tomorrow, it becomes a life of purpose, leadership and service.
