Connecting Columbia Union Seventh-day Adventists

During the Columbia Union year-end meetings, union leadership presented eight men and women with Notable Persons of Honor awards.

Rob Vandeman, executive secretary, used Proverbs 22:29, The Clear Word version, to describe the honorees: “Show me a man who does his work faithfully and well; he is worthy to be in the presence of kings; he is not just an ordinary man.”

A U.S. federal court confirmed today that clergy can continue to claim the tax benefit for housing allowance, upholding a Seventh-day Adventist Church-backed appeal against a lower court ruling that would have ended the so-called parsonage allowance.

At the end of the year, Jim Greene, New Jersey Conference executive secretary, is retiring. “After so many years working together, it is not easy to say good bye to somebody like him,” says José H. Cortés, conference president. “Jim has had an outstanding service record of 48.82 years!”
