Jordan and Isabella Vanterpool’s journey to Atholton Adventist Academy (AAA) began with a plate of food. Their father, Lebert, owns a restaurant in Columbia, Md., that serves Caribbean cuisine. Lebert had been contemplating moving his children from their local public school to somewhere that didn’t have constant fighting—something Lebert, himself, experienced as a student.

On the court, the Atholton Adventist Academy (AAA) Royals play with a sense of higher calling. Nothing illustrates this better than one moment during a tightly contested men’s volleyball match. A hard-driven spike from the opposing team sailed long and was ruled out.

Educators at Atholton Adventist Academy believe Adventist schools are called to be evangelism centers—places where faith is lived, shared and nurtured daily. Their theme this year, “Shining His Light, Proclaiming His Love,” reflects that calling.

For more than 65 years, Atholton Adventist Academy has prioritized providing children with a Christian education.

I have a bad habit of getting lost. I’ve been lost in grocery stores, malls, parks and even at church. Luke 19:10 reminds me that Jesus loves us so much that He came to save us. And when we get into trouble or when we are lost, He rescues us. He is the real Superman!
