Connecting Columbia Union Seventh-day Adventists

Columbia Union Conference

Last Sunday, some 242 delegates attended the Allegheny West Conference’s (AWC) 15th Regular Constituency Session and 2nd Quadrennial Session. Their purpose was to elect officers, departmental directors, and governing committees; amend the constitution and bylaws; and hear reports of conference work during the past four years.

Some 100 leaders from all over the union recently attended the Columbia Union Conference Spiritual Leadership Symposium, a three-day event designed to provide leaders of conferences, schools, and healthcare networks, as well as those who sit on conference executive committees and college boards, with the skills necessary to lead effectively.

The Columbia Union Conference was well represented at the Division Level Pathfinder Bible Achievement in Berrien Springs, Mich. Ohio Conference’s Delaware Discoverers and Pennsylvania Conference’s Reading Hampden Hawks went up against 24 other Pathfinder clubs from across the North American Division.

With broomsticks and a small inflatable ball, members from Pennsylvania Conference’s Hershey and Reading Hampton Heights churches, and their invited friends and co-workers, are regularly getting together to play a twist on an old favorite—Broomstick Hockey. Every four to six weeks, from September through May, an average of 40-50 players of all ages go out on the ice to have some good ol’ Christian fun. Because they play in their gym shoes, everyone has a fair shot at making a score.
